Wenatchee, WA — A new independent study conducted by ECONorthwest shows the planned Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort expansion would generate more than $1.2 billion in economic activity for Chelan and Douglas counties over the next 20 years, creating jobs, driving new visitor spending, and significantly increasing tax revenue for schools, roads, and essential services.
The study, Economic and Fiscal Contributions of Mission Ridge, highlights both the current role Mission Ridge plays in the local economy and the long-term impact of its planned expansion:
- Construction Impact: Expansion construction is projected to support 280 jobs annually over 20 years, contributing $1.2 billion in total economic output, including $486 million in labor income.
- Tax Revenue: The project is estimated to generate $209.7 million in property tax revenue and $30.8 million in sales tax over the construction timeline.
- Operations: Once complete, Mission Ridge will support 732 permanent jobs, up from 477 today, and contribute $25.4 million annually in local economic output.
- Visitor Spending: Expanded capacity is expected to attract an additional 107,000 visits annually, generating nearly $10 million in new economic output each year.
“Mission Ridge has always been about more than skiing – it’s about bringing people together and strengthening our community,” said Larry Scrivanich, President, Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort. “This study confirms what we’ve long believed: a responsible expansion of Mission Ridge will deliver lasting benefits for families, workers, and businesses across Chelan County. It’s a once-in-a-generation opportunity to grow recreation and economic opportunity side by side.”
Currently, Mission Ridge operations contribute $8.3 million annually to the Chelan-Douglas economy and support 477 jobs. With the expansion, those contributions more than triple, creating significant new opportunities for local workers, small businesses, and public services.
